I almost paid $$ to buy adapters so my daughter could listen to her shuffle without headphones - SO GLAD I stumbled upon this while looking for an adapter! Very inexpensive but a decent sound. It does have an adapter so you can plug it into a computer but our goal is to not have her computer in her room (otherwise she could listen to music on THAT instead of the shuffle) - not sure how long the batteries will last.

Next step will be to get a plug in that lets me put the USB into to the plug without a computer. It would NICE if this came with an adapter to use an outlet, but for the price I'd be a fool to complain!

Sound quality? Better than more expensive things we have and I can listen to it without hearing nails on a chalkboard but I can't help but think someone serious about such things would hear negatives I don't.
