This cable worked fine on my iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.1. But not out of the box.

You have to take below steps before it starts working.

1. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPod and make sure you have latest Cydia updates installed
2. Install a package (via Search) called, Resupported (for iOS 3.x) and Resupported4 (for iOS 4.x) .... This application is not FREE. It is around $3.99 with 10-day trial period.
3. connect the cable to your TV and iPhone and that's it
Note that, you will not see anything on TV, unless you play some video from you tube or something like that
4. If you want to see mirror output of your iPhone screen, install FREE application package from Cydia called, "TVOut2 Mirror TVOut"

This should get you started ....
