I looked at a lot of cases before making a choice. I watched a lot of video reviews on Youtube. I'm not the kind of person looking to change iPod cases like clothes. I just wanted one for protection, so I wanted to get a good one, that has both form and function.

I eventually chose the Speck Candyshell. I originally wanted the original Cranberry color but that is no longer made and nearly impossible to find. I went with the white and gray instead.

LOOKS: It has amazing style. The sleek, shiny, hard outer coating looks great. Candyshell is a perfect name for it. The speck logo on the back and gray accents around the edges give a simple and clean look.

PROTECTION: Even if it looks great, it still has to function as a case to protect your device, mainly from scratches. Candyshell is a two piece case. It has silicon inner so you don't have to worry about any scratches getting on your iPod's chrome backside. On the outside the case is hard plastic. I set it down without worry, knowing that my iPod and case will not get damaged.

The front side of the case does have a nice lip on it so you can set it down with the backside of the case facing up, iPod screen down, and not worry about damaging your device, since it rests on the lip of the case, not the iPod. I do this often because I like the way the back of the case looks. Again, no concern at all that the iPod will get damaged.

The case also hugs the iPod very tightly. So there's no chance it will accidentally come out. For the record, you can get your iPod in this case if it has a full body film on it. I did so. But I removed the film after deciding it was unnecessary. The case is designed to fit perfectly and tightly with a naked backed iPod touch 2G or 3G (because they are the same exact size).

FEEL: One last thing to comment on is how the case feels as you hold it while using your iPod. It's amazing. I like it better than the naked iPod. You can grip is securely and it's very comfortable, even if you're playing hours of gaming. The buttons are also covered. Many cases just have cut outs for the power and volume buttons. This case has silicon button covers built into the case. They function perfectly. There's no stress or issue trying to push the buttons, especially the volume buttons. The power button may be a little less sensitive to push, but to me that's a plus because it rarely gets used unless I'm holding it to power down the device so having it be harder to do, read that harder to do accidentally, is a good thing. A have to reiterate that it is not "hard" to do at all, just harder to accidentally do, say when you're holding it in landscape mode while watching a video. Something I did several times with a naked iPod.

CONS: I really have nothing bad to say about this product. The only negative is that I have a microphone and it is too wide to plug in while this case is on. I honestly bought the mic just to get myself free shipping on my order so it's not a huge deal to me, but I do have to mention it. If I was to use the mic I would have to remove this case to do so. I don't think there will be any issues with any kind of headphones though, unless you had a really big adapter, such as a 1/4 to mini jack adapter. But I imagine every kind of case would be the same story with that.

Also, you do get a microfiber cloth and screen protector with this case. It's irrelevant to me though because I wouldn't use the kinds of films that come with cases. I recommend the Power Support line of protective films. I've tried a few and this brand is by far the best I've used. The cloth is a nice bonus though, if you don't already have one.
